Bill Cook is seeking election to the North Carolina House of Representatives. The office Bill is seeking represents the 6th district that includes Beaufort County and part Pitt County. Bill is a resident of Beaufort County where he lives with his wife, Holly, and golden retriever, Beau.

Beaufort County

As of 2000, the population was 44,958. Its county seat is Washington. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 959 square miles of which, 828 square miles of it is land and 131 square miles of it is water. The county includes the towns of Aurora, Bath, Belhaven, Chocowinity, Pantego, River Road, Washington, Washington Park, among others. Beaufort County was founded in 1712.

Pitt County

As one of the fastest growing centers in the state, the county has seen a population boom since 1990. As of the 2000 Census, the population was 133,798. In 2006, the county's population was 145,619. Its county seat is Greenville.

Pitt county was formed in 1760 from Beaufort County, though the legislative act that created it did not become effective until January 1, 1761. It was named for William Pitt the Elder, who was then Secretary of State for the Southern Department and Leader of the House of Commons.
